Installation Guide

The Ironleaf Wall Builder pre-calculates panel quantities so no trimming or cutting is required. Follow this guide to install your modular MDF core beveled T-slot slatwall panels.

Before you start

Proper preparation ensures a successful installation. Review the required tools and materials below.

Required tools

  • Stud finder
  • Level (4-foot or longer recommended)
  • Drill with appropriate bits
  • Screwdriver or impact driver
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil for marking

Required materials

  • Ironleaf slatwall panels (4×8 or 4×4)
  • Wood screws (see specifications below)
  • Wall studs or continuous plywood backer

Important: Panels must be mounted into wall studs or a continuous plywood backer, not drywall alone. Failure to properly anchor panels may result in wall damage or injury.

Mounting method

Follow these steps to securely mount your slatwall panels:

  • Locate wall studs using a stud finder and mark their positions with a pencil
  • Mark a level baseline at your desired starting height using a 4-foot level
  • Install the bottom row first, ensuring it is perfectly level
  • Drive screws inside the T-slots rather than through the face of the panel so fasteners remain hidden once hooks, shelves, and trim are installed
  • Fasten panels at each stud location for maximum strength
  • Continue installing panels horizontally, butting them together side by side

Recommended fasteners

Screw type: #8 wood screws with flat or pan head
Length: 2.5 to 3 inches (must penetrate studs by at least 1 inch)
Spacing: One screw every 16 inches along each stud, placed inside the T-slot channels

Seams and stacking

Panels are designed to butt together side by side with minimal visible seams. When creating an 8-foot wall height, stack a second 4-foot-high row directly on top of the first row. Ensure that the T-slots align vertically between rows for a continuous, professional appearance. The beveled edges help create clean transitions at seams.

Trim and accessories

After panels are installed, Ironleaf trim pieces and accessories can be added to cover edges, corners, and seams for a finished look. Shelving, hooks, and display accessories mount directly into the T-slot channels without additional hardware. Trim pieces are designed to snap or slide into place and can be repositioned as needed.

Safety and load guidance

Important: Load capacity depends entirely on proper fastening into wall framing. Installers are responsible for ensuring panels are securely anchored to studs or a continuous plywood backer. Do not overload shelves or hooks beyond their rated capacity. Ironleaf is not liable for improper installation or use.
